It can be daunting trying to decide what path you should choose for/with your child, whether mainstream post primary school or special post primary school. There can be forms to fill and preparation to be done. Many parents who have gone through this with/for their child with Down Syndrome advise to plan early. Some special schools in Limerick have waiting lists. Majority of schools need to be contacted months before you hope your child will join the school, this is so that school can organise the supports your child may need.
We hope that this transition talk by fellow parents/members can provide you with some information and support to help you.
