Now in it’s 21st year, the Tour de Munster, will once again complete over 600km throughout the 6 counties of Munster, raising funds and awareness for Down Syndrome Limerick and the neighbouring Munster branches. Each year local companies very kindly sponsor the jerseys for the event.  And we are delighted to showcase those local businesses this week.

Irish Cement

Irish Cement is Ireland’s leading supplier of quality cement. We have been making cement at our Limerick cement factory for over 80 years. During all those decades our cement has been a critical ingredient in the buildings and infrastructure that can be seen throughout Munster. Many of the roads, tunnels and mountain passes that form the route of the Tour de Munster have been made possible with our cement.

Elaine O’Hehir, Irish Cement’s HR & Community Liaison Manager says,  “At Irish Cement we have a long tradition of supporting local charities, sports clubs and associations that provide essential services right across the community. We are especially committed to good causes that reflect the passions and interests of our own workforce”.

Ellen Tuffy, Chairperson of Down Syndrome Limerick says, “Tour de Munster is an important fundraiser for us.  It has been going for 21 years, 11 of which Down Syndrome Limerick has been a beneficiary. We are delighted to have local companies, such as Irish Cement, involved in the event.  Their support means so much to the children and adults who avail of services at DSL. Thank you to Irish Cement for their support”.
